To check out the clues for puzzling puzzles use 'Retrospection mode'. In Retrospective mode you can also see hotspots for items that you can pick up and/or objects with which you can interact. Skip audio diaries they are not needed to solve puzzles. But all means if you're not interested in the story check them out.
