Cheat Codes/Hints

Boat Mini-Game

When you have the ship hold ''A'' and press ''B'' 55x. A sliding puzzle will appear. Put the numbers in order and you win 100gp.

Dragon Warrior

Easy gil

Acquire the ship from the pirates. Board the ship, and hold A and press B(55) times. A number-sliding game will appear. Complete this as fast as possible to get at least 100 gil.

Extra money from boat mini-game

When you play the boat mini-game (hold A and press B 55 times on the boat to play) you will notice three seperate times on the top-right, going from lower to higher. These are times you can beat for a lot of extra cash. Here are the rewards:

If you complete the mini-game in under the time on the bottom, you get 2,000gp.
If you complete the mini-game in under the time in the middle, you get a 5,000gp.
If you complete the game in under the time on the top, you get a wopping 10,000gp!

If you don't beat any of those times, well, you get just 100g...

Hint: Adamant location

The location of the Adamant needed for Excalibur is in the tower in the sky -- you need the chime and the cube. Go in the tower and continue to the place with eight ways to travel. Go in the bottom left diagonal and fight the enemy that guards it. Open the treasure chest to get the Adamant.

Hint: Defeating Tiamat

Open the chest in level 1 of the Sky Castle to get the Bane Sword. When used as an item, this sword will cast Bane. Use the Bane Sword sword as an item to defeat Tiamat in one round.

Hint: Easy experience

Northeast of the port town of Provaka is a two space wide peninsula with enemies from the Northern Continent. They offer a lot experience and are difficult to defeat unless you are around levels 12 or 13.

The following trick is an easy way a receive money and experience. As soon as you get the ship, go back to the first town and spend the night. Then, turn off the power, continue your game, go directly to your ship and go south. You will meet one to six Kyzuku. Go back to town, save, turn off the power, and repeat as many times as desired. Note: This does not work if you reset the NES, you must turn off the power.

Inside of the Ice cave (the one with the floater) is an Eye protecting a chest (with the floater in it). The Eye is worth 800 experience and dies in one or two hits.

Hint: Invisible guard in castle

In the first castle entered in the game, Castle Coneria, above Queen Jane's room is what appears to be a room with no one inside. Search around the room a bit, however, and you will realize that you can talk to someone although they are not there. After you rescue the princess, the message will change.

Hint: Level up White Mages

In Astos' Castle, the northwest castle, is a room with three treasure chests with Undeads guarding them. The two upper ones are Mummies. Use two Harm spells to wipe them out to get 150 to 300 experience, and 600 to 1200 experience for using just two spells. This is most useful immediately after getting the key from the elf prince.

Hint: Zeus Glove

Go to Bahamut's cave. Once you first enter, go to the bottom left part. The Zeus Glove will appear in the items screen if you are lucky -- There is a 1/300 chance of finding it.
