To unlock the Factory Hero challenge, play the "Troublesome Tech" level until a golden brick appears, then break it. It is possible that the golden brick only spawns after you have unlocked Sadistic Satellite at power level 4. Once the golden brick is broken, the challenge will be available at the "Challenges" menu, under a new sub-menu for hero challenges. It only lasts thirty seconds, but is difficult. The other hero challenges are unlocked similarly by breaking golden bricks in other levels.

Collect twenty yellow triangles in quick succession to make a star appear. Note the pitch of the sound effect that is played when they are collected. The higher the pitch, the closer you are to making a star appear. If the pitch drops down, you took too long. Consider waiting until the level is over halfway filled with bricks. Then, blast a group of them and collect the shards at the same time. Additionally, opening a treasure chest and collecting its contents will earn a star. Although it may be possible to get enough shards for a star by blasting blocks one at a time, it is difficult to destroy them fast enough unless you are at a high power level. If you collected a group of shards but did not get a star, blast nearby blocks as fast as possible to try to keep the chain going. Also, multiple stars can appear at the same time. Do not worry about timing them; just keep making them appear and collect them. Note: The invincibility effect does not get prolonged between stars, and they will disappear if not collected within some time.
The level has a pattern consisting of a normal wave, coverage wave, short normal wave, and hazard wave. There are also two forms of the coverage wave. It is either four solid rows of blocks falling at once, or two broken rows of blocks. The four solid rows is the better outcome because it gives you more blocks faster, allowing a better boost away from the lava and increases the chance of a star. It also lasts longer, giving you more time before the hazard wave begins. As soon as the coverage wave ends, immediately try to spawn a star by blasting blocks and collecting all the shards at once. The star will protect you against the fireballs. If you have enough blocks on the screen, chain several stars together. If you cannot spawn a star, focus at the bottom of the screen to dodge the fireballs. There are also two types of hazard waves. The usual type spawns four hazards that can either be a fireball or a fire bar each. The other version is the earthquake type, which sends four fireballs and no fire bars, raises the lava briefly, then destroys the bottom row of blocks. If the screen shakes, it will be the earthquake version. If it only flashes red, it will be the usual hazard wave. As soon as the hazard wave ends, you will be safe from fireballs until the next coverage wave begins. Do not jump into the lava during the earthquake if you are invincible or you will risk getting trapped under the surface. Note: Do not shoot anything at the start of the level and the normal wave will be endless. You can then wait for the level to fill with blocks to help spawn stars. Also, the time between the waves is shorter the higher power level you are.
