After starting a new game in arcade mode on the normal or hard difficulty setting, wait for the first level to start and then tap up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right on the touch screen. Then press B, A, and then tap the center of the touch screen. "Up" on the touch screen refers to the top of the screen, "down" refers to the bottom of the screen, and left and right refer to the left and right sides of the screen. This must be input before the chopper drops your character on the ground, so it must be done very quickly. If done correctly, you will start the game with 34 lives.

This glitch will allow you to obtain 99 lives. In order for this to work, you must have zero lives left, and die at the same time you get an extra life. The best way to do this is by killing the mini boss of level 1 because that usually gets you an extra life. Get hit by one of the fireballs it drops down on you the instant you destroy it.

To change colors on the unlockable characters first you must have unlocked Challenge Mode, then you must choose one of the unlockable characters. After that, enter any challenge that takes place in the Harvest Yard Stage. Simply enter and die, then go back to main screen and go into the Character Select Mode. If done correctly, the character will show an alternate color, you must select the character once again to gain access to the alternate color. If you want to go back to the original color simply slide through the character select menu to another character and go back, and you´ll see the original color, and then simply select the character.

Successfully complete the game. Press Up or Down at the character selection screen to choose an alternate color.

Successfully complete the game to unlock Challenge mode.

Same as the real classic Contra in NES, once you beat the game, you'll start over with hard mode. More enemies, more bullets flying around.

Press Up(2), Down(2), Left, Right, Left, Right, Y, B, Start before the demonstration begins at the title screen.

If you have any unlockable characters and want them to have different armor colors than their default settings, try the following. On the character select screen, double-tab X, up, or down. This will change the character's armor colors. Then you can press A to select the armor color you want. This works only on unlockable characters.
