You must have more than just a commander with you. Slot eight captains with three lieutenants each to be safe. Select the Beginner difficulty setting. If possible, use a horse that has a Piercing passive, such as Lu Bu's default horse, Red Hare. Try to have your attack high enough to one hit kill from your horse with your basic attack. Go to the Jiangdong region and fight in Guangling (18% region subjugation required). One possible setup will give you will have a noticeable advantage with over 50% subjugation while the enemy only appears from the right side of the map. If you do not end up with this scenario, exit the battle and try again. All of the enemies will be grouped at a single location, giving you an easy opportunity to ride up and down the small area they appear from and kill anyone that is a Mobile Unit Captain, Unit Commander, or named officer. Once clearing them out, go to the enemy bases and capture them to remove the possibility that they will get reinforcements. Next, break through their defensive line and eliminate the commander.

Defeat Hua Xiong and Lu Bu in under 14 minutes at Battle of Hu Lao Gate-Liu Bei's forces on hard or chaos mode, item appears in the corridors on fire.

Battle of New Hefei Castle: Escort all allies to safety in "East Gates Battle".

Battle of Fan Castle (Hypothetical): Complete all hypothetical conditions in the stages before "Battle of Fan Castle".

Disturbance at Guandu: Do not defeat retreating enemies in "Defense of Xu Province".

Pacification of Nanzhong: Defeat Xiahou Mao before Guo Jia appears in "Ambush at Chang'an".

Wei

Battle of Chibi (Hypothetical): Complete all hypothetical conditions in the stages before "Battle of Chibi".

Battle of Puyang: Defeat Tao Qian before he escapes in "Battle of Xu Province".

Battle of Xiapi: Do not rescue Cao Ang and Cao Anmin in "Battle of Wan Castle".

Wu

Assault at Xinye: Do not allow enemy officers to breach the defense lines in "Defense of Jiangxia".

Battle of Guangling: Keep Gan Ning alive and defeat Shamoke in "Battle of Yiling".

Battle of Hefei (Hypothetical): Complete all hypothetical conditions in the stages before "Battle of Hefei".

Battle of Liang Province: Defeat Lu Gong before he escapes in "Battle of Xiangyang".

Defeat Gan Ji: Defeat Xiahou Dun and Gan Ji before reaching the escape point in "The Little Conqueror in Peril".

These can only be unlocked in Ambition Mode. To welcome the Emperor, you must have completed construction of the Tongquetai.
